Herman Kumara, General Secretary of the World Forum of Fisher Peoples (WFFP), along with key members of the WFFP, participated in the Global Strategy Meeting – Social Movement Gathering 2024, held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on September 15, 2024. This meeting brought together leaders and activists from various social movements around the world to discuss strategies for advancing social justice, environmental sustainability, and human rights .
The event served as a platform to unite global movements in their fight for the rights of marginalized communities, including small-scale fishers. The discussions centered on issues such as defending human rights, promoting sustainable environmental practices, and addressing global challenges like climate change and corporate encroachment.
