The second session of the global webinar series, Customary Governance, Tenure, and Traditional Rights of Fisher Peoples, was successfully held on 10 th September. This session, facilitated by Susan Gui from KIARA, built upon the key discussions from the first part of the series, bringing to light critical issues facing fisher communities in relation to governance and rights.
The session commenced with Yifang Tang from FIAN International, who provided an insightful response to the presentations from the earlier session. Tang’s remarks set the stage for a deeper examination of how state actions and policies intersect with the livelihoods of fisher peoples, particularly under the pretext of promoting a “sustainable ocean economy.”
