This is a video of the cultural festival of the fishing community of the western region of India. They begin the fishing season by celebrating and launching their boats into the samudra (sea). They perform a ritual known as Narali Pournima. Men, women, and children gather on the beach in fine clothes and ornaments. They decorate their boats as well. The most important part is that they offer a coconut with sweets to the sea, then pray, sing, and perform traditional dances. Their famous dance is known as the Koli Dance.
